Birchbox: September 2012

Sorry for the very late Birchbox of September. The reason why it's late is because I moved. By the time I updated my new address on Birchbox. com, the box was already shipped to my old add. But I finally got it and in October...lol But that's okay cause then that means I get two this month! Yay!

Okay so let's take a peek inside September's Birchbox!

Benefit Cosmetics - Foamingly Clean Facial Wash + Refine Finish Facial Polish
I love Benefit Cosmetics, so when I saw this I was really excited to try it out! God knows my skin needs some TLC! :)

Color Club - Custom Color in Status Update
Not sure if I'm feeling this color. Hold on let me swatch this, one sec...Actually it's not so bad. Goes on smooth and pigmented. Probably only needs about two coats. Definitely a nice color for fall.

Nexxus - Pro-Mend Split End Treatment System
Couldn't come in a better time! I have major split ends that need to split!...that was cheesy. This sample package might not be enough but it's wroth a try!

twistband - Birchbox Custom Lace Hair Tie
I love these! I could never have enough, since they seem to be all over the place! lol I also love this lace design, really cute!

Youngblood - Mineral Primer
Love me some primer! Primers help me out big time! My fave at the moment would be Benefit Proefessional. It's a big plus that this is paraben and cruelty free. Also claims that it contains vitamins and mineral, awesome!

*Lifestyle Extra*
Mighty Leaf Tea Company - Teas
I love tea! I think these are going to taste awesome because there whole brew teas, which I've never tried before. I have three flavors, Green Tea Tropical, Vanilla Bean and Chamomile Citrus. I prefer cold tea, so I would brew this and set it in the fridge to get it nice and chilled.

Also received $25 Gift Card {for a $75 or more purchase} @ Madewell.com

Sorry for the poor quality of the pictures. I'm still trying to set up a place in the house that's more brighter. ; )

Cotton Candy Gradient Nails

Happy Weekend!

This weekend or basically this month and September is going to be busiest for my boy friend and I. We're planning on moving out of the city. After 8 years, finally getting a place of our own. I know what your thinking, 'what took you guys so long?' lol Three of the reasons being money, waiting for the right time and looking for a good place. Living in the city is getting to be too expensive. So praying that living upstate will go well for us! While taking a break on packing I squeezed in some time to make a NOTD!

Here's my second attempt at achieving gradient nails. I must say, I think I did better this second round! I'm getting the hang of it. It was very easy to follow Nailasaurus: Gradient Nails Picture Tutorial. These are two of my favorite color combinations. Together they both remind me of cotton candy. As a kid I used to love the cotton candies at the carnivals. It kinda makes me miss going to carnivals...

The colors I used are both from Color Club Nail Lacquer. He Loves Me (pink) & Blue-Ming (green-turquoise). I used a light nude color as the base. Finished it off with a mattifying top coat (NYC Matte Me Crazy). Which I love! I just realize I didn't to do 'He Loves Me' NOTD...Oops!

Let me know what colors would be awesome for a Gradient Nail Effect?

Wet n Wild Megalast Lipstick ~ Cherry Picking

I've been wanting to pick this lipstick up when I saw a lip swatch of this color on Citrine's blog. I thought it looked great and I wanted to give it a try. I have four other Wet n Wild Megalast Lipsticks in Just Peachy (903C), Bare It All (902C), Mauve Outta Here (907C), and Red Velvet (910D). My favorites out of all four are Mauve Outta Here and Red Velvet.

The color that I picked up is Cherry Picking (965). Cherry Picking is a deep berry-red color. It's very pigmented. The formula goes on smooth and settles to a matte finish. Can be a bit drying on the lips. This has lasting power but while eating and drinking the color starts to fade and stains the lips. I find that I didn't need to reapply this color since it last me for hours. What I don't like very much with these Wet n Wild Megalast Lipstick's is they tend to bleed around the lips. I would use some concealer around the lips to stop the color from bleeding. I love how deeper, darker lip colors make my lips look more fuller. Also how red's make my teeth look whiter! lol

I say these are a great buy for $1.99 each. They have really great pigmentation. Last pretty long without fading. Since these go on to a semi-matte finish I would recommend to exfoliate and moisturize your lips. If it's too drying for your taste then apply a balm or lip gloss on top.

Let me know below what you think and if you have any of these Wet n Wild Megalast Lipsticks?

Inferno Gradient Maze

Hey Guys! How was your weekend so far? I got to visit my family and bring them some yummy cookies, that I made on Friday. It was by far the "Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe EVER!" Oh and that's the name of the recipe too. I will leave a link right {here}, if you wanna check out that recipe. Planing on making them again, that's how good they are!

Okay so now on to my NOTD. I got my idea for this Inferno Gradient Maze nail art from a blog called Chalkboard Nails. I must say her version was way better than mines! I love her blog, she does such great designs on her nails.

This was my first time attempting this nail art. I think I need more practice. I also need a better nail brush to achieve finer lines. But for my first time it came out nice. The nail polishes I used were both Wet n Wild colors. One a fastdry and the other a Wild Shine. {Orange & Jezebel} I cut a piece of sponge as the shape of my nails to attain the gradient effect.

If you wanna try out Gradient Nails but not so sure on how to accomplish them, well then visit this blog, The Nailasaurus. Her Gradient Nails Picture Tutorial helped me a long the way!

Look out for more Gradient Nails!
